Darien Lakes State Park is located near Darien Center, New York. The park's terrain is hilly with woodlands, ravines, streams, and 12-acre Harlow Lake.
The park is primarily used for camping and has a total of 158 campsites. Besides the campground, the park also offers a beach, picnic tables, a playground, recreation programs, a nature trail, hiking and biking, a bridle path, seasonal small game and deer hunting, and fishing. In winter months, multiple-use trails are open for hiking, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and ice-skating at the outdoor skating rink. There is a rustic bridge over the lake channel to Picnic Island.
The park has a total of 158 campsites (equipped with electricity) with heated comfort stations and showers, a beach, boat rentals, dumping station, picnic tables, a playground, a nature trail, a bridle path, and a heated building for an outdoor skating rink. Darien also has two picnic shelters available for a fee by reservation only. Seasons/Operating Hours: Open all year. Campsites available on weekends all year and daily from June to October. Deer and small game hunting is permitted in season with a park permit. Restrictions: Household pets only; caged or on a leash not more than 6 feet. Proof of rabies inoculation. Not allowed in bathing areas, cabins or Darien Lakes day-use area. Location: Darien Lakes State Park is located near Darien Center, New York, at the intersection of Routes 20 and 77. This road can be accessed via exit 48A on the New York State Thruway. The park entrance is on Harlow Road, north of Route 20.
